SP's first warm up friendly for the IVP Championships! Won ITE Clementi 6-2!

This match was a highly anticipated match for the newly assembled IVP squad. We needed a win and probably and early goal to boost our morale in our run to the IVP. ITE Clementi was also relatively unknown to us and we needed to know how good they were.

The match started our lively as both sides traded attacks on both goals. The battles were mostly in midfield as both try to control passes and take shots on goal. The first period was a morale dampener at first as Hafiz lose the ball uncharacteristically in the middle of the rink which led to the ITE captain taking a free shot into goal. This made SP rethink and evaluate what to do in the next period.

The 2nd period began with many clashes as both sides began to play more aggresively. Hafiz regained his pride momentarily by scoring via a defensive error from ITE. Farok made SP regain the lead with a cool 1-2 with Faliq and a dragshot landing into goal. SP was overjoyed and we were going into the game with a mission. However, the joy was cut-short as the ITE capt when on a jinking run from the left and gave a low shot which caught our keeper unaware. SP was rudely awakened by that goal and began to regroup to launch an onslaught on ITE.

The 3rd period was a goalfest for SP. 4 goals with no reply as we began our onslaught. Farok started the fest with a nice shot on goal. Jie hong did it again after a nice assist from Andy. Aldrin had a nice top corner finish from a nice run through the centre of the rink. Lastly, Dzaki ended the rout from a ball gifted by a spilled save from the ITE goalie.

Lesson learnt:
1. Aggressiveness. The IVP is gonna be more aggressive than this but do not worry about the refereeing. The referees there are qualified for matches.
2. Midfielders need to watch out for throughballs slicing through the midfield. This gap has to be closed down at all times as the defenders haf to contend with the strikers as well.
3. Slow "wake up". We alwaez concede an early goal and come back fighting like crazy. If we had "woken up" early,we could have gotten an early goal and possibly do a better job.
4. Lastly, sorie for missing 2-3 sitters. I'm ****** up with those misses and hope not to do it again.
